Sponsored Review: Copywriting.com

I’ve been wondering for many months what the new owner of Copywriting.com
(it used to belong to direct mail copywriter Karl Freitag) was going to
do with the domain. When tapped to write a review for its grand
re-opening, I got the chance to find out.

Owned by Miguel Alvarez, a self-described internet marketer and
copywriter located in Mexico, Copywriting.com is a bright, cleanly
designed information site about, well, copywriting! It’s organized into
logical sections, including Articles, Training, Resources, Community,
Blog, Services along with the usual "About Us" and contact information.
You can subscribe to the blog via email and the usual RSS feeds.

The articles offer basic information for new writers or those who may
need to write marketing copy for their work. The articles are actually
being drawn from the blog, but that’s a quibble. Perhaps in time Mr
Alvarez will add original or other kinds of republished material here
apart from the blog postings. The forum, too, as it’s on a new site, is
lightly trafficked for the moment.

Under Training, you’ll find an extensive list of copywriting
correspondence courses from the American Writers and Artists Institute
(AWAI) via affiliate links (self-disclosure alert – I’ve been a copywriting coach/mentor for AWAI since 2003.)
Under Resources, another extensive list of familiar copywriting/SEO
tools from a number of well-respected publishers also via affiliate
links. (The affiliate links, however, aren’t identified as such. I’d
suggest they should be.) Under Services, Mr Alvarez details his
copywriting services, policies, rates, etc.

What I really like about the site is the overall look and feel. It’s
very professional and appealing. The content is well-written with a
personal, engaging voice. Although the content is generally geared for
beginning copywriters and web marketers, I believe in time the site
could attract a larger, more seasoned audience.

But do check out the
blog post, Meet the father of propaganda
about Edward Bernays, a nephew of Freud. A documentary video is
included, too, for your viewing/listening pleasure. Trust me, you’ll
think about the art and science of persuasion in a whole new way.

Keep an eye on Copywriting.com … it shows a lot of promise.
