2 for Tuesday: Links for Laffs
By Roberta Rosenberg on Jul 3, 2007 in Occasional Rantings

Since we’re butting up against a holiday (or holiday week, if you’re so
inclined), I thought I’d share these essays that have been kicking
around my in-box waiting for the opportune moment. In no particular
order:
The Six Stages of E-Mail, By Nora Ephron
I got my first email address in 1986 when I was a copywriter for the GEnie online network.
It was simple, memorable and like me, to the point: JUNKMAIL. I
remember being away from the office for a few days and there were a
total of 8 emails in my box. I was thrilled. My passion has waned since.
This is a wonderful essay from the writer behind the 1998 movie, You’ve Got Mail,
speaks to the evolution of email and our collective response to it.
From initial delight to well, read it and find out. Enjoy the laugh.

If Architects Had to Work Like Web Designers
I
don’t know who wrote this, but baby, I feel your pain. If you’ve ever
struggled with clients who think they know everything, but know only
enough really to be simply dangerous to your mental health — this one
if for you.
And to my US compatriots - Happy Fourth of July!
You
have to love a country, with all its many faults, that guarantees your
right to not only to life and liberty but the pursuit of your own brand
of happiness. So listen to those founding fathers. Be a patriot. Follow
your bliss — and send along a prayer or a healing thought for our
military men and women serving here and abroad.
