I’m off to AWAI Copywriter’s Bootcamp

I was taken to task a few weeks ago for not advising you, my dear readers, that I was taking a brief hiatus to attend to a flurry of new client projects. (I was also chastised for abandoning my readers, other working copy and marcomm writers, for cash money assignments, but that’s the subject for a very different post.)

He was right, though, about keeping y’all updated. So I’m advising. I’m off to Florida to meet, greet and make merry with copywriters all descriptions at this year’s AWAI Copywriting Bootcamp. I’m going to get the chance to meet some of my students from over the summer as well as some fave heavy-hitters like Herschell Gordon Lewis, Bob Bly, John Forde, etc. I’m thrilled about it, too. Even got a manicure for the occasion.

Of course, when my clients get wind that Roberta may actually leave the basement dungeon for the bright, sunny world outside, they decide to dump lots of last minute stuff on me, so I’m not packed and the VM on my rarely used cell isn’t as yet working properly. But I have new-age tunes for relaxation and Nora Ephron’s latest audio book memoir about aging for wry and rueful laughs on my new Creative Zen V Plus.

I need to make some biz cards, tho, so I still have some stuff to do before I even pack my bags.

I am sooooo not ready.

If you’re going to Bootcamp, come find me. My dance card is filling fast but Maven readers will get first dibs ;)

I’ll look forward to your “other post” you mentioned. I think it’ll be a good one (despite that I still think you misunderstood the message if that’s the one you took home with you!)

Happy vacation. The trip sounds like it’ll be a great one and I envy you the opportunity. Let me know all about it when you get back.

Oops, I sent you an email this morning before I read this post. I won’t expect to hear from you until your back in the swing of things.

    Have fun!

Wow, sounds like a hell of a time. Don’t fret, in my opinion all the best people leave packing till the last minute.

You don’t have a business card?

I don’t either, and it sometimes tortures me. I assume it’s a genetic instinct left over from the prehistoric era, when you simply weren’t in business if you didn’t have a card…

Well, I do, but the only one I have is for my micro-publishing company. The MGP cards still have my old address from 2 years ago. (Besides, if I never leave the office, who exactly would I give a card to?)

    :)
