Another good makeover Roberta. I think you already know I’ll be linking to it tomorrow.
In the headline you recommended you made the assumption that the person who landed on the page already knew something about mind mapping.
Do you think it might still be a good idea to offer something in the headline persuading them why they need mind mapping software in the first place?

Hi Steven, I thought of that, too. But ultimately, the book is really about what it’s about — how to sort through the options to make the best buy. One of the comments on the Copyblogger post offered that the book’s overall premise may not be strong enough to garner enough sales. (I thought it sounded like a great white paper or bonus report myself.) That, however, is why we really need to think deeply and dispassionately about the products we produce. The question, “Does my product satisfy a strong enough need to a wide enough target market with deep enough pockets? If the answer is no, we need to rethink.

That makes sense. My first thought about the book was also to wonder how likely someone would be to purchase it. I’m not sure I would buy a book telling me which software to purchase. I saw it more as a whitepaper or free ebook myself.
You’re right though that that is what the book is about and getting right to the heart of that is going to be the best way to sell it.
