MenwithPenswithTips: How to Write Bigger, Better, Stronger Taglines
By Roberta Rosenberg on Apr 1, 2008 in DM Copy Tips & Tools

I’ve written more than a few taglines in my day.
Like Haiku and Google Adwords micro ads, I like the challenge of packing a big, fat concept into a teeny, tiny space. (If I wrote for the movies way back when, I know my biggest kick would be try to insert all sorts of sexy bits and business without alerting the censors.)
Recently, I must have written well over 100 taglines for a client. A few were actually pretty good, but it was a MAJOR struggle since I’m all about the clear and my client was looking for clever, jazzy, and quirky.
It was a hard slog. I wish I had had James Chartrand’s guest post on today’s Copyblogger as my personal “second” to further support my position with my client that a play on words doesn’t make for a strong, memorable tag line. It would have saved me a ####-load of time and aggravation.
How lucky for y’all that you can read it here: How to Create a Rock-Solid Tagline that Truly Works
So please do.

@James – to proud, too proud, let’s not worry the details. It’s such a terrific post I wish I had written it myself … first!
