Mobile marketing isn’t quite on the radar of most of my B2B clients, perhaps a little bit more with my B2C. But it’s coming and we all must, in the very least, be thinking about how our companies and organizations will use this new marketing channel.
But true to my direct marketer’s heart – the key beyond all the technology “whizbangetry” is the list.
In John Jantsh’s post, How to Get Your Web Site Ready for the Coming Rush of Mobile Visitors, he outlines several excellent suggestions and readily available tools to get you started. But one jumped out at me and he saved it for last:
One last tip – start collecting those mobile phone numbers in your permission based marketing forms – Text message campaigns are the next mobile frontier!
Of all the tips, this is one you and your clients can begin to do IMMEDIATELY, like right now. Add one more line to your online AND print lead-gen, order and other permission-based forms. Incentivize current customers and hot prospects to give you their cell numbers, too.
To paraphrase the most famous line in rock ‘n roll classic, The Shoop Shoop Song, ” How do you know if they love you so / It’s in your list! … “
